“Oigame nooo!” (the iconic sentence from Eugenio Derbez actor) was the ironic reaction of thousands of Vallartans upon learning that producer Eugenio Derbez premiered his new series filmed in Puerto Vallarta called “Acapulco.” This 10-episode production comes out October 8th on Apple TV for streaming, and its plot is oriented in the port of Acapulco in 1984.

However, the filming of the series took place in Mismaloya, south of Puerto Vallarta; 90% of the scenes take place in the Barceló hotel with its famous pink walls. You can see a drone shot of this Vallarta beach purportedly to be Acapulco in the official trailer.
About 200 actors and extras and production agents worked for three months at the hotel. The series was created by Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman as a sequel to the successful “How to be a Latin Lover.”

The plot centers on Máximo Gallardo, a young man who comes to Acapulco to find opportunities to work in a hotel and face life situations, played by Enrique Arrizón.
The series is launched pretending that the location is in Acapulco, a tourist destination in decline since the 1990s.
